The EBI is an international center for banking studies resulting from the joint venture of preeminent European academic institutions which have decided to share and coordinate their commitments and structure their research activities in order to provide the highest quality legal, economic and accounting studies in the field of banking regulation, banking supervision and banking resolution in Europe.
EU banking and capital markets regulation is a key factor for a stable and innovative financial services sector. The growing demand for executive education in European financial markets regulation is reflected in the attractiveness and practical applicability of this new graduate program. This program offers a highly challenging, practice-related curriculum. An international team of distinguished lecturers ensures that the program reflects an up-to-date approach to EU banking and capital markets subjects. Among the strengths that graduate students find is the opportunity to pursue a broad range program, which is fully offered online, outside business hours, making it particularly suitable for practitioners.
Our new LL.M. continuing education program is aimed at professionals who want to gain the necessary skills and expertise to successfully work in the entire field of banking and financial regulation. The focus is on practically relevant, general topics, namely, the foundations of financial regulation, institutional aspects and current trends, EU banking regulation, and EU capital markets regulation.
After the foundations, the focus will shift to more specialised topics, namely, ESG in the financial system, central banking policies (other than prudential supervision), specific aspects of EU banking regulation and capital markets regulation, digital finance law, as well as comparative banking and capital markets regulation. Case law supplements help students to understand complex legal issues, summarize cases, and prepare for exams.
In the second year, students can choose two out of three elective courses: international bank accounting and M&A accounting, EU insurance regulation, and EU regulation of financial groups. In the second semester of the second year, students will complete a Master Thesis on a choice of topics given.
